Making a Positive Difference

 

Hello. 

My name is Tom Fortune.

For 30 years I have been involved in the community. I have been a public representative since June 2004. In that period I have achieved alot.

It is important that the Greystones/Kilcoole/Newcastle/ Delgany/Killadreenan/Kilquade are represented  on WIcklow County Council and Greystones town council by a councillor with a proven track record in the community. I am your candidate!

I am always available and approachable to all. I will always help anyone in any way I can. 

Throughout my life I have always been heavily involved in community activities, such as:

  • hurling, gaelic football and soccer for Wicklow, Kilccole, Newtown and Bray Wanderers.
  • St. Anthony’s boys school fundraising committee and I was a member of the board of management for a number of years.
  • I have always had a particular interest in the juvenile side of the GAA and was Chairperson of Kilcoole juvenile GAA club in addition to fulfilling various roles within the senior club such as Vice Chairman, PRO and senior football manager. 
  • Was Chairperson - St. Anthony’s Church silver jubilee celebrations. 1993
  • Have been and continue to be involved in numerous fund raising activities.

I Have always been very interested in Education, Tourism and community development and being a public representative it gives me the opportunity to be involved in all of these areas .

  • I am chair person of Wicklow County Tourism
  • I sit on the board of the County Wicklow VEC
  • I am on the board of Colaiste Croabh Abhann and St. Thomas’s Senior School
  • I ama board member of Wicklow County Partnership and Failte Ireland East and Midland Region
  • I am also a member of the housing SPC in Wicklow County Council.
  • i am the vice chair of the County Wicklow Joint Policing Committee

I worked for most of my career in the corporate business world. For the past few years I have worked for myself as a strategic management advisor and a qualified business/life coach. My qualification is from the Irish Coaching Institute and Middlesex University.

What I like best about being a public representative is Working  with the various communities and organisations in my electorial area, and I believe that over the past five years I have helped to make a positive difference.
